With many Fashion Weeks around the world come and gone, designers of men’s underwear have been extra busy showing off their collections of underwear. From Tokyo to Milan to New York City, male models have been walking down the catwalk on countless days with so many different types of underwear. From traditional underwear to more untraditional undies, we have seen them all.

            As a result of a growing trend in male skivvies, we have seen more designers from around the fashion world create male underwear and showing them off at the Fashion Weeks. It has become more and more competitive with the rise of more designers, who have entered the field. Hence, the increase in competition, can only be beneficial for the men. The men will have a better selection in underwear.

As we can see, men’s underwear is becoming as important as women’s underwear. After all, the men deserve it! Don’t you think?

Did you ever wonder why so many of our Clothes are made of Cotton?

Many of us know that our clothes are made of cotton, but only few of us know where cotton comes from and why so many of our clothes and garments are made from this textile.

What is Cotton?

Cotton fiber grows around the seeds of the cotton plant which is called GenuseGossypium. When it grows, it takes the form of a little bowl which purpose is to facilitate the spreading of seed dispersal. As almost all species, you can find many different species of cotton around the globe, which all have different characteristics. Cotton grows in warm region of the globe; you can find some in America, in Africa, in Asia, and in almost every tropical and subtropical region of the world.  

Why Cotton in our clothes?

The reasons that make cotton one of the most preferred fabrics of the clothing industry is that it is both breathable, which makes it comfortable for people when it's hot, and that it is also very easy to dye. Both of these characteristics make cotton very popular in the clothing industry, as style is almost always expressed with colors, and as people are more than often concerned with clothes that won’t make them suffocate. A final thought about cotton is that it is a natural fabric. That makes it less harming to people who are sensitive to certain chemical used in the production of other fabrics.

Knowing this, we can understand why almost all of our clothes, our T-shirts, hoodies, underwear and socks contain cotton.  However, cotton doesn’t only have advantages. You have probably noticed that it wrinkles and shrinks when you wash them and put them in the dryer. That would be the reason why cotton is frequently blended with other fabrics such as polyester and Lycra, in order to give it the benefits of both cotton and the other fabric.

Apparently my previous boyfriends don’t really care about how they look and what they wear, especially their underwear. Most of them wear the underwear their mom has bought for them, which are not boxers. Typically, boxers have more of a “father” image instead of a “sexy” image. Women wants their men’s underwear to be sexy, while men want their underwear to be comfortable and stylish. There is such a wide range of men’s underwear that it’s impossible to know what’s sexy and what isn’t. Whether women buy underwear for their boyfriends, or men buy their own underwear, they need to know the pros and cons of each underwear style.

With that said...it’s the time to get to know your underwear!


Briefs:
Traditional briefs are marked by a prominent elastic waistband that sits at the waist, a Y-shaped covers everything from the waist to the upper thighs, and full coverage of the butt. All briefs provide great support for the genitals. They're a solid choice for jobs that require sitting down all day or for physical activities.






Boxers

In many ways, and for many people, boxer shorts are the "classic" men's underwear. Boxers are the loosest and maybe the most comfortable of all styles.










Boxer-Briefs:

Now here's a popular type of men's underwear. As the name just show, it combined the feature of Boxers and briefs that both providing supports and  coverage.








Trunks:

what’s the different between boxer-briefs and trunks?
in general, trunks' shape is squarer and has shorter legs and boxer-briefs is usually longer. However, some brands and designer didn’t differentiate them on the label. So many people also consider trunks is a type of boxer-briefs.






Bikini:

 Bikini briefs sit well below the belly button usually do not have a fly, with the entire thigh exposed but still covers the butt entirely. Bikinis work best with low-rise jeans and tighter trousers, and on men with well-muscled bodies 





Thong:

Let's be honest: Thongs are extraordinarily uncommon. Not only that, but you need an incredible body to pull them off. Proceed with caution; many women are turned off by this type of underwear.

This article put together by Julianna Rae has a very catchy title that may bring up some surprising images that I’m sure you wouldn’t like to think about. It does discuss many interesting points regarding underwear. I’m only going to highlight a few key points but the image below is definitely worth reading if you want some fun facts on underwear.

Firstly, how does this article relate to promoting underwear? It was found that 31% of people wear underwear to bed and it’s mostly in the age range of 18-24. Underwear is essential in our everyday wardrobes and now essential at night as well. Attractive Alternatives for Designer Brand Underwear

As a student with limited budget, I often search for alternatives to expensive products that I cannot afford. Also, I want to find something with the same quality or better. For underwear, I would never spend more than 5$ for a pair of female underwear. The lingerie industry is expanding exponentially as for male underwear, it has just began to blossom a few years ago. This blog post is about alternatives for designer brand underwear. I truly believe that Dylan Ribkoff Apparel can provide all the following styles, but at reasonable prices and with the same high quality. It is especially aimed to young adults who have tight budgets, but want to look stylish in their underwear!
I stumbled upon this website Askmen.ca regarding the trends of male underwear for the year 2011. It is quite nice since they talk about different styles and shows some examples. However, when I found this:

$65 for a pair of “Fruit of the Loom” type briefs? I can’t even afford underwear this expensive!

From shoes to shirt right down to the last piece of accessory, what a person decides to wear on a given day expresses the very image of what he/she would like to share to the public. Every piece of clothing one wears is often carefully thought of before considering it appropriate for the day.  Such conditions like where the person is going to spend the day, what weather will it be and most importantly how one feels and who will they meet are vital considerations towards deciding on the type of outfit to put together.   If this process is important to you and the reward you receive for having successfully worn the right outfit is the confidence you need to go through your day, how would you feel if one aspect of your “perfect” outfit just doesn’t belong?
